Job Description

As a Principal Engineer specializing in Semiconductor Chip Design with a focus on Backend (Physical Design) at a Fortune 500 Organization based in Bangalore, you will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating the back-end stages of integrated circuit development. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing physical design, synthesis, DFT, place and route, power integrity, and other back-end aspects to ensure the successful realization of semiconductor designs. In addition, you will be involved in product support activities for both Pre-production and Post-production stages, contributing to the initiation, development, and sustainment of semiconductor designs. Your technical leadership will involve ownership of synthesis, SDC constraint development, and formal verification. You will drive place & route (P&R), optimize for power, performance, and area (PPA), manage power distribution, and lead STA across corners/modes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, documentation of design flow, participation in design reviews, and mentoring junior team members are also key aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8+ years of strong experience in backend flows for MCU or low-power SoC designs, along with the ability to lead DFT and formal Verification Teams. Exposure to frontend and Analog processes, effective collaboration skills with cross-functional teams, and experience in Product Support for both Pre and Post Production Stages are essential requirements. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in VLSI design from reputed universities like IIT/NIT, with a background in Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication, or a related field. Additionally, experience in Project Management, knowledge of industry standards, and best practices in semiconductor front-end design are advantageous.
