The Vice President, Software Engineering - Platform role at Mastercard is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the technology backbone that powers the organization's applications and services. This includes managing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, developer experience, observability, database engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and enterprise standards adoption. Key Responsibilities: - Define and implement the vision, strategy, and roadmap for platform engineering to align with business objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform meets organizational requirements and stays ahead of emerging trends and technologies. - Design, build, and maintain robust frameworks and tools to support software development and operations. Ensure the platform architecture is scalable, fault-tolerant, and optimized for performance and cost. - Oversee the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines to enable seamless and reliable software delivery. Drive automation initiatives across build, testing, deployment, and monitoring processes to foster a DevOps culture. - Provide frameworks, libraries, and APIs to empower development teams. Collaborate with developers to address pain points and incorporate feedback into platform enhancements. - Establish comprehensive observability practices to track platform and application performance metrics. Implement robust incident management and disaster recovery processes. - Lead database design and optimization to support scalable and secure operations. Ensure highly available, performance-tuned, and business-aligned database systems. Collaborate with data engineering teams for advanced analytics. - Adopt and enforce adherence to enterprise-wide standards for security, compliance, and architecture. Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure platform systems meet regulatory and organizational policies. All About You: - Product engineering experience with a successful track record of enabling business through engineering excellence and technical innovation. - Deep programming background in Java and distributed system architectures. - Experience in DevOps best practices, Continuous Integration (CI), and Delivery (CD) concepts. - Proficiency in implementing advanced test setups in production environments. - Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. - Expertise in observability tools, non-functional testing frameworks, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. - Extensive experience in database design, optimization, and management across relational and NoSQL systems. - Performance engineering experience to ensure applications are built to scale and perform for varying demands.
