Job Description
As a Software Asset Manager, you will be responsible for managing software assets, ensuring compliance with licensing policies, optimizing costs, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Your key responsibilities will include: Software Asset Tracking & Inventory Management: - Using SAM Pro to maintain real-time records of software assets, including installations, license entitlements, and versions. - Tracking software deployments, removals, and transfers within SAM Pro for visibility and reporting. - Updating and validating the software inventory to ensure all assets are accurately recorded and categorized. License Compliance & Optimization: - Monitoring software usage, detecting over- or under-licensing, and ensuring compliance with vendor agreements. - Collaborating with internal teams and vendors to optimize licensing models and make recommendations on license purchasing. - Conducting software audits and leveraging SAM Pro's reporting capabilities to ensure compliance with licensing policies. Software Procurement & Vendor Management: - Managing software procurement processes and tracking licensing requirements within SAM Pro. - Collaborating with procurement teams to negotiate contracts with software vendors and ensure accurate recording of licenses. - Implementing cost-effective licensing strategies based on insights from SAM Pro. Software Lifecycle Management: - Managing the lifecycle of software assets, from purchase to disposal, using SAM Pro to track and report software status and updates. - Scheduling timely software updates and replacements in coordination with internal teams. - Maintaining up-to-date information on software end-of-life schedules and product renewals within SAM Pro. Reporting & Documentation: - Developing customized reports in SAM Pro to track key performance indicators such as compliance rates, usage trends, and cost optimization. - Documenting all SAM processes, audit results, and software inventory details for easy accessibility. - Providing regular reporting on software asset performance, savings opportunities, and licensing compliance. Collaboration & Support: - Collaborating with IT, finance, and procurement teams to align software asset management strategies with business objectives. - Offering guidance and support to internal stakeholders regarding software licensing, usage patterns, and compliance issues. Requirements: Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT procurement. - Proven experience with SAM Pro or similar software asset management tools. Skills & Knowledge: - Strong experience using SAM Pro for managing software licenses, inventories, and compliance. - In-depth understanding of software licensing models and industry best practices. - Familiarity with SAM-related processes such as audits, compliance checks, and vendor management. - Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Certifications (Preferred): - Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or similar certifications in software asset management. - SAM Pro-specific certifications or training is a plus. Other Qualifications: - Knowledge of ITIL framework and SAM best practices. - Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.,
