Job Description
- As a Technician in Cardiac Anesthesiology, your role is to provide technical support and assistance to the cardiac anesthesia team in the operating room or cardiac catheterization lab
- You will work closely with cardiac anesthesiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective administration of anesthesia during cardiac procedures
- Here are some key responsibilities and tasks associated with this role:Equipment Preparation: Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment, including anesthesia machines, monitors, intravenous lines, and other necessary supplies
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and calibrated according to safety guidelines
- Patient Preparation: Assist in the preparation of patients for cardiac procedures requiring anesthesia
- This may involve positioning the patient, applying monitoring devices, and ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Anesthesia Administration: Assist the cardiac anesthesiologist in administering anesthesia medications, such as intravenous anesthetics, inhalation agents, and muscle relaxants
- Monitor patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and end-tidal carbon dioxide levels
- Intraoperative Monitoring: Assist in monitoring the patient's hemodynamic status during cardiac procedures, such as open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, or electrophysiology procedures
- Continuously assess the patient's response to anesthesia and make adjustments as directed by the anesthesiologist
- Airway Management: Assist in airway management, including intubation, extubation, and the placement of invasive monitoring lines, such as arterial lines and central venous catheters
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to assist in the management of cardiac emergencies or complications that may arise during anesthesia administration or surgery
- Follow standardized protocols and assist in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or other emergency interventions
