Job Description This position will be part of Global Data office team and will report into the Sr Director Data Engineering for Bengaluru location to perform the role of a Senior Manager Data Engineering skillset. This position will be based in Bengaluru, India. As a Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and developing and managing data-related products in collaboration with Visa's internal and external stakeholders. You will utilize your engineering and management skills, including strategic planning, business analysis, and technical expertise in data engineering & product management, to oversee the entire product lifecycle from inception to market launch and beyond. Additionally, you will lead a team of professionals to achieve these objectives. As part of the role you would be performing the following key activities Leadership and Management: Guide, support, and develop a team of data engineers. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation. Oversee project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure timely completion. Data Strategy and Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement data engineering strategies aligned with business objectives. Design and establish scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and architectures. Ensure the quality, integrity, and governance of data across all platforms Platform Development - Lead the design, development, and deployment of the Data Platforms. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and high performing. Define and prioritize the product roadmap and backlog, aligning with strategic business goals. Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Scala, Python, SQL, and PySpark. Experience with Unix/Linux systems with scripting experience in Bash. Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools like Airflow, etc. Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and Cassandra. Proficiency in managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients. Experience with building processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management. Supervise the development, implementation, and maintenance of data models, ETL processes, and data integration solutions. Employ modern data engineering tools and technologies, including SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues while providing ongoing support. Collaboration and Communication: Work in close collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights. Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely. Promote data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. Innovation and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data engineering. Champion the adoption of new tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Engage in and contribute to the broader data engineering community within Visa. This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. Qualifications Basic Qualifications 12+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications 12+ years of work experience with a bachelors degree or at least 5+ years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3+ years of work experience with a PhD degree Proven leadership skills with experience leading a team of data engineers. Exhibits intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning. Demonstrates integrity, maturity, and a constructive approach to business challenges.
