Job Description
This role is for one of Weekday's clients. The salary range for this position is Rs 1500000 - Rs 4000000 (INR 15-40 LPA) with a minimum experience requirement of 2 years. The location for this full-time job is Mumbai. We are looking for a dynamic and driven Sr. Associate / Manager - M&A Tax professional to join our growing tax and transaction advisory team. The ideal candidate will have experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, deal structuring, and tax due diligence and will play a key role in advising clients on tax-efficient deal strategies and structures. This is an exciting opportunity for a tax professional looking to specialize in high-impact M&A transactions and work with leading corporates, investors, and private equity clients across diverse sectors. Key Responsibilities: - M&A Tax Advisory: Provide end-to-end tax advisory support on M&A transactions, including buy-side and sell-side structuring, joint ventures, divestitures, and business reorganizations. - Deal Structuring: Devise innovative and tax-efficient structures for complex transactions while evaluating potential tax exposures and risks. Assist in transaction planning for cross-border acquisitions and restructurings. - Tax Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive tax due diligence and review target entities for potential tax liabilities. Prepare detailed tax due diligence reports and risk matrices for client review. - Regulatory Compliance & Risk Assessment: Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations including Income Tax, International Tax, Transfer Pricing, GAAR, and BEPS frameworks. Identify areas of tax exposure and recommend solutions for mitigation. - Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Interact with clients regularly, understand their business goals, and align tax strategies with their broader business objectives. Deliver presentations and reports to senior client stakeholders. - Coordination & Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Corporate Finance, and Audit) to provide a holistic transaction advisory experience. Coordinate with legal counsel and external advisors on deal documentation. - Research & Insights: Stay updated with developments in tax laws, judicial pronouncements, and market trends affecting M&A. Contribute to knowledge sharing, whitepapers, and internal training. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Educational Background: CA or LLB (with strong tax background). Additional qualifications such as CS or a Master's in Taxation would be an advantage. - Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in M&A Tax, corporate tax advisory, or transaction advisory with a reputed consulting firm, Big 4, or corporate M&A team. - Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Indian Income Tax Act, M&A tax provisions, international tax, and cross-border structuring. - Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex tax legislation and assess implications for transactions. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to simplify and explain complex tax implications to non-technical stakeholders. - Project Management: Capable of managing multiple engagements simultaneously and delivering within deadlines.,
