Job description The Mechanic Chennai - Your Vintage and Two-Wheeler Specialist We're seeking a meticulous Shop Floor Supervisor / Job Card Supervisor s to streamline our operations. Responsibilities: Create, assign, and update job cards for service or repair tasks. Ensure accurate documentation of work details, including customer complaints, diagnoses, and work done. Monitor the status of job cards from opening to closure. Distribute jobs to technicians based on skill, workload, and priority. Monitor technician performance and job progress. Inspect completed jobs to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. Confirm that all necessary work is done before job card closure. Ensure the right parts are used and recorded against each job card. Coordinate with stores for timely part issuance and returns. Maintain records of job cards for audits and service history. Generate reports on work completed, productivity, and resource usage. Assist in clarifying job details for customers when needed. Help resolve customer complaints related to service jobs. Ensure that all work is done in compliance with safety regulations and company SOPs. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Recommend improvements to job flow, process efficiency, and documentation methods. Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Technical certifications (ITI/Polytechnic) may be acceptable with relevant experience. 23 years of experience in a service, repair, or maintenance environment. Previous experience as a team leader, or service advisor is often preferred. Familiarity with job card systems, workshop processes, and customer service protocols Strong knowledge of Repair and maintenance processes, tools, and parts. Ability to read and understand technical documents, service manuals, and diagrams. Proficient in job card software, ERP/workshop management systems, or MS Office. Experience in assigning work, monitoring progress, and managing technician teams. Good at prioritizing tasks, handling multiple jobs, and meeting deadlines. Ability to troubleshoot workflow issues, identify delays or bottlenecks, and propose solutions. Effective verbal and written communication with customers, technicians, and service advisors. Strong team leadership and coordination abilities. Understanding of customer expectations and ability to handle job clarifications or complaints. Accuracy in documenting job details, parts used, labor hours, and service notes. Understanding of safety standards, quality checks, and workshop compliance procedures.
