Job Description

Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties: Provide direct nursing care to neonates requiring intensive care, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and using advanced NICU equipment. Maintain and operate life-support equipment such as ventilators and incubators. Administer IV fluids, tube feedings, and medications as prescribed. Perform neonatal resuscitation and emergency interventions as necessary. Monitor and document the condition and progress of each neonate, updating medical records accurately. Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and mentor junior NICU nurses and support staff. Conduct bedside teaching and training for new staff and interns. Ensure adherence to established protocols, infection control practices, and patient safety standards. Coordinate patient care plans with neonatologists, pediatricians, and multidisciplinary teams. Family Support and Education: Provide emotional support and education to parents and caregivers about their infants condition, treatment plan, and care needs. Facilitate parent-infant bonding and kangaroo mother care when appropriate. Administrative Duties: Assist in staff scheduling, inventory management, and NICU audits. Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental planning. Maintain records and ensure documentation is complete and compliant with hospital standards and legal requirements.
