Job Title: New Product Development (NPD) Senior Engineer Department: Engineering / R&D / Product Development Reports To: Director Location: Chennai Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: 35,000 to 1,00000 Job Summary: The NPD Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and introduction of new products across different sectors. This role requires a hands-on engineer who combines technical proficiency with cross-functional collaboration to develop innovative, manufacturable, and compliant products that meet market demands and industry-specific standards. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop new products using CAD and simulation tools, adapting solutions to sector-specific needs (e.g., durability in mining, safety in automotive, hygiene in food). Conduct feasibility studies, risk analysis (FMEA), and validation protocols based on product performance goals. Build and test prototypes, interpreting results and refining designs as needed. Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure DFM/DFA and successful product launch. Create and manage product documentation: engineering drawings, BOMs, SOPs, and change requests. Assist in sourcing materials, evaluating suppliers, and supporting supply chain integration for new designs. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, CE, FDA, FSSAI, EMC). Contribute to continuous improvement of product development processes and tools. Support scale-up from lab or prototype to mass production through pilot runs and validation activities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Food Technology, or relevant engineering discipline. 515 years of experience in product development or design engineering. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., FEA, CFD). Experience with prototyping, testing, and product validation techniques. Familiarity with PLM systems, quality systems, and stage-gate/agile development methods. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and certification requirements.
