Job Description

As a Senior Inspro COBOL Developer at Wellcove, you will play a crucial role in the daily tasks related to programming, systems analysis, and software development on mainframe platforms. Your responsibilities will include independently interacting with customers for requirement gathering and problem-solving, driving business requirements, and performing estimation processes for WBS/Implementation & Execution plans for projects. You will propose and develop application specifications, artifacts, and implementation plans, translating business requirements into programmed applications, modules, and business processes. Additionally, you will conduct daily stand-up meetings to review the team's progress on all deliverables, manage application management deliverables, and oversee code reviews and documentation from junior developers. Periodic technical and functional sessions will be conducted by you to ensure effective communication and proactive status reporting with different stakeholders in the account. Your role will also involve monitoring applications, root cause analysis, and providing solutions to support requests. To excel in this role, you should be an expert in Mainframe or Microfocus technology, particularly in COBOL, CICS, VSAM, SQL/DB2, and batch scripting. Working knowledge of COBOL, file handling, CICS, DB2/SQL, and batch scripting is essential. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills, are required. While not mandatory, having insurance domain knowledge would be advantageous. The ideal candidate for this position should have a minimum of 4 years of development experience in mainframe projects and hands-on experience in COBOL and file handling. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills are necessary to succeed in this role.,
