Job Description
As a Senior Applications Engineer at StreetLight Data, a mobility analytics solution provider acquired by Jacobs, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining customer-facing features for the StreetLight SaaS web applications. These applications, such as InSight Planning and InSight Operations, are used by our subscription customers to explore and visualize travel patterns in the real world. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work on both frontend and backend components, collaborating with teams in San Francisco, Vancouver, Bangalore, and Eastern Europe. Your responsibilities will include interfacing with other developers and QA engineers, mentoring junior engineers, productizing analytics models, and ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliable operation of StreetLight InSight Planning and StreetLight InSight Operations. You will also be involved in delivering product releases, writing automated unit tests, participating in peer design and code reviews, and resolving production issues when needed. To be successful in this role, you should have a BS/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university, along with 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in a software product company, preferably in an enterprise market. You should also have 3+ years of experience in developing web-based SaaS applications, proficiency in Python (Java, C++, or Ruby experience can substitute), and strong problem-solving and solution design skills. Additionally, experience with SQL, relational databases, cloud-deployed platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud, and good communication skills are essential.
