Job Description

Job Title: Assistant ManagerPayroll
Department: Human Resources

Job Purpose:

The job purpose involves managing end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring statutory compliance, maintaining payroll data integrity, and supporting audits, all while coordinating with internal departments and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Payroll Processing:

    • Manage monthly payroll cycle for employees across locations.

    • Validate attendance, leaves, bonuses, incentives, and deductions.

    • Ensure accurate and timely disbursement of salaries.

  2. Compliance & Statutory Deductions:

    • Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of PF, ESI, PT, TDS, and other statutory requirements.

    • Coordinate with finance for remittances and returns.

    • Keep abreast of changes in labor and tax laws affecting payroll.

  3. Reporting & Documentation:

    • Prepare and share monthly payroll reports, salary registers, and reconciliation statements.

    • Maintain records for audits, internal controls, and statutory inspections.

    • Support internal and external audits related to payroll.

  4. Employee Queries & Support:

    • Address and resolve employee queries related to payroll, taxation, and salary slips.

    • Educate employees on tax-saving investments and salary structures if required.

  5. Process Improvement:

    • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes for accuracy and efficiency.

    • Work with HRIS/payroll software vendors for system enhancements or issue resolution.

    • Key Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate in Commerce/Finance; MBA in HR or Finance preferred.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Hands-on experience with payroll software (Spine Software)

    • Strong MS Excel skills

    • Knowledge of applicable labor laws and tax regulations

  • Soft Skills:

    • High attention to detail

    • Analytical thinking

    • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential data

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
