You are a motivated and detail-oriented L1 Network Security Engineer seeking to join our cybersecurity team. Your role involves assisting in the monitoring, configuration, and maintenance of Palo Alto and Check Point security appliances to ensure the integrity and security of our network infrastructure. Your responsibilities include continuously monitoring security logs and alerts from Palo Alto and Check Point firewalls to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. You will assist in responding to security incidents by analyzing alerts, documenting findings, and escalating issues as necessary. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will support the configuration and deployment of firewall rules, policies, and VPNs. Additionally, you will help manage user access and permissions, maintain accurate documentation of network security configurations, changes, and incidents, and collaborate with senior engineers and other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve security-related issues. It is essential to stay informed about the latest security threats and best practices in network security. Qualifications for this role include a basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs), familiarity with Palo Alto Networks and Check Point security technologies, experience with security monitoring tools and practices, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Relevant certifications such as Security+, CCNA, or similar are a plus but not required. Preferred skills include knowledge of firewall rule management and network security policies, experience with SIEM tools or security incident management processes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
