Major roles and responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance
Enforce strict adherence to mine safety regulations and procedures (e.g., MSHA, OSHA, or local equivalents).
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
Promote a strong safety culture among workers.

Team Leadership & Supervision
Supervise and coordinate activities of mine workers and equipment operators.
Allocate daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure targets are met.
Train, mentor, and evaluate team members.
Address conflicts and maintain workforce morale.

Production Management
Oversee daily mining operations to ensure productivity goals are achieved.
Optimize use of equipment and resources.
Monitor progress against production schedules and adjust plans as necessary.
Collaborate with engineers and planners for continuous improvement.

Equipment Oversight
Ensure proper operation and maintenance of mining equipment.
Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns promptly.
Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs.

Reporting & Documentation
Maintain accurate records of production, equipment use, safety incidents, and employee performance.
Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports for management.
Use data to identify trends and improve performance.

Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure operations follow environmental regulations and permits.
Support sustainability initiatives and minimize environmental impact.
Assist with audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.

Emergency Response
Be prepared to lead or coordinate emergency procedures.
