Middleware Systems Senior Technical Lead


Job Description

Strong understanding of middleware architecture, deployment patterns, and best practices.

  1. Set up and configure WebSphere Application Server instances across development, testing, and production environments.
  2. Provide Level 3 support for WebSphere Application Server environments, including installation, configuration, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  3. Experience in implementation project with providing consulting to manage the Middleware stack for complex architecture.
  4. Diagnose and resolve complex issues impacting application availability and performance.
  5. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent solutions to prevent recurrence.
  6. Develop scripts (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible) for routine operational tasks, automation and deployment processes.
  7. Collaborate with development teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines for WebSphere applications.
  8. Implement security best practices and configurations for WebSphere Application Server environments.
  9. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  10. Generate performance reports, incident reports, and contribute to knowledge base articles.
  11. Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, and operations teams.
  12. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members.
  13. Incident, Problem, Request & Change management following ITIL guidelines
  14. Set up and manage monitoring through tools like Dynatrace, Appdynamics, Splunk etc.
  15. Monitor system performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies to optimize WebSphere Application Server performance.
  16. Conduct capacity planning and ensure scalability of WebSphere environments.
  17. Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 support for critical production issues as required.


Required Skills:

  1. Proven experience as a WebSphere Administrator with Level 3 support responsibilities.
  2. Expertise in installation, configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of WebSphere Application Server in enterprise environments.
  3. Knowledge of working in both Windows and Linux environments
  4. Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (Shell scripting, Python, Ansible).
  5. Knowledge of performance monitoring tools and techniques for WebSphere Application Server.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  7. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.


Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in working on application integration using WAS.
  2. Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, configuration management tools).
  3. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  4. Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  5. Familiarity with microservices architecture and modern application deployment patterns.
  6. Understanding of ITIL principles and best practices.
  7. Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server, Oracle Certified Professional, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Microsoft AZURE Cloud certifications) are advantageous.


Total Experience Expected: 08-10 years


Qualifications: Technical Background
