Tax Engineering at Airbnb is tasked with addressing some of the most complex and distinctive challenges encountered by the company globally, such as quoting, invoices, and collection. The team consists of highly skilled engineers responsible for developing Guest and Host facing product experiences and backend systems that support Airbnb's operations in numerous jurisdictions worldwide. As a leader of the Invoice Platform team at Airbnb, you will oversee the system responsible for recording and generating tax invoices, as well as laying the groundwork for additional products. The team's primary focus lies in ensuring development speed, reliability, scalability, and efficiency to meet the needs of users around the world. Your responsibilities will include: - Building relationships and working closely with peers and stakeholders in India and the US - Collaborating with Staff and Sr. Staff engineers to align architecture trade-offs - Coaching and mentoring team members to help them excel in their roles and responsibilities - Creating plans to address technical debt, promote learning, and foster cultural engagement - Participating in both India site level and global initiatives to strengthen the Tax Engineering organization - Setting the strategy and direction of the team to develop the Tax Invoice Platform for current and future requirements - Refining team processes and work divisions to enable effective prioritization, planning, and communication of sprint commitments To be successful in this role, you should have: - 3+ years of engineering management experience and 9+ years of relevant software development industry experience with a BS/Masters degree - Experience leading teams through large-scale tech transformations involving multiple teams and stakeholders - Ability to proactively manage and communicate dependencies across parallel work streams - Demonstrated expertise in setting expectations, coaching, and creating mentorship plans for individual contributors - Comfort working independently to establish priorities and direction in the absence of Product Management - Track record of contributing to Technical Quality practices and roadmaps for the organization - Experience managing distributed teams with varying levels of experience - Previous experience in building Tax programs and systems is a plus At Airbnb, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
