Job Description
As a Manager R&D at Vocera (now a Part of Stryker), you will be responsible for leading a team in the development of enterprise-class software products within the microservices and cloud domain. Your role will involve mentoring team members, driving innovation, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of product releases. In this position, you will oversee the development, testing, and deployment of Micro Services and cloud applications. You will drive functional excellence initiatives, provide guidance on technical strategies, and lead the Agile development process to align with product releases. Collaboration with various teams including Technical Support, Escalations team, and DevOps will be essential to anticipate and troubleshoot project issues. To excel in this role, you must have a track record of delivering solutions that meet customer needs, possess a hands-on approach to the product life cycle, and demonstrate a passion for developing quality software products. Proficiency in designing and developing microservices architecture, containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native technologies is required. Experience in optimizing microservices for performance, scalability, and security will be a significant asset. The ideal candidate should hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, along with 12+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of direct people management experience. Technical skills in building back-end applications using Spring Boot, containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, database technologies, event streaming with Kafka Confluent, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure are essential. Familiarity with authentication protocols and security standards, as well as experience in Agile development environments, will be beneficial. In terms of leadership experience, you should be adept at providing feedback, setting performance objectives, and managing team member performance. A general understanding of the healthcare market, talent and performance management strategies, and effective communication within a business unit are key attributes for success in this role. Demonstrated ability to deliver programs or business goals within specified timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints is also important.,
