Job Description

Job Title: Lathe Machine and Milling Machine Operator (R&D Department) Reports to: R&D Manager/Team Lead Scope of Work: The Lathe Machine and Milling Machine Operator will be responsible for operating lathe and milling machines to support the R&D department's machining work. The role involves working closely with the R&D team to design, develop, and test new products and prototypes, reducing the department's dependency on outside vendors. Key Responsibilities: 1. Lathe Machine Operation: - Operate lathe machines to perform turning operations, such as facing, turning, and threading. - Use various cutting tools and attachments to achieve desired results. 2. Milling Machine Operation: - Operate milling machines to perform milling operations, such as face milling, slotting, and drilling. - Use various cutting tools and attachments to achieve desired results. 3. Machining Support: - Assist the R&D team with machining work, including designing, developing, and testing new products and prototypes. - Collaborate with the team to optimize machining processes and improve product quality. 4. Tooling and Fixture Development: - Design and develop custom tooling and fixtures to support machining operations. - Collaborate with the R&D team to design and develop new products and prototypes. 5. Quality Control: - Conduct quality control checks on machined parts to ensure they meet company standards. - Identify and report any quality issues or defects. 6. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: - Perform routine maintenance tasks on lathe and milling machines. - Troubleshoot machine issues and perform repairs as needed. Key Technical Requirements: - Good knowledge of turning operations, including facing, turning, and threading. - Familiarity with milling operations, including face milling, slotting, and drilling. - Experience with operating lathe and milling machines. - Strong understanding of machining principles and practices. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Education and Experience: - Diploma or Certificate in Machining, Tool and Die Making, or related field. - Minimum 2-3 years of experience in operating lathe and milling machines. - Experience in a R&D environment or working with prototype development is desirable. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): 1. Quality of machined parts. 2. Efficiency and productivity of machining operations. 3. Ability to work collaboratively with the R&D team. 4. Effective troubleshooting and repair of machine issues. 5. Adherence to company safety protocols and procedures.
