Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Collecting Blood Samples: collect blood samples from patients for laboratory testing, using venipuncture or capillary puncture techniques. 2. Preparing Patients: prepare patients for blood collection, explaining the procedure, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. 3. Labeling and Processing Samples: label and process blood samples for testing, ensuring accurate identification and handling. 4. Maintaining Equipment: maintain phlebotomy equipment, including needles, syringes, and blood collection devices. 5. Providing Patient Care: provide basic patient care, such as applying bandages and providing emotional support. 6. Maintaining Patient Records: maintain accurate patient records, including test results and patient information. 7. Collaborating with Healthcare Teams: collaborate with healthcare teams, including nurses, doctors, and laboratory personnel. Skills and Qualities: 1. Attention to Detail: must be detail-oriented to ensure accurate blood collection and labeling. 2. Communication Skills: must have excellent communication skills to interact with patients, healthcare teams, and laboratory personnel. 3. Compassion and Empathy: must be compassionate and empathetic when working with patients who may be anxious or fearful. 4. Manual Dexterity: must have manual dexterity to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures. 5. Organizational Skills: must be organized to manage multiple patients, samples, and laboratory requests.
