Job Description
As a Principal Support Engineer, you will be responsible for owning the end-to-end support process for eServices incidents, software patches, and platform availability. You will support and maintain a Java 8 based application running on Tomcat, serving over 20,000 users. Your key responsibilities include triaging and prioritizing incoming support incidents, providing timely resolution, communicating incident status and progress updates to stakeholders, conducting and documenting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents, and coordinating release activities across infrastructure, security, and development teams. You will also oversee UAT sign-offs and assess readiness for production deployments. Additionally, you may be required to participate in weekend or out-of-hours deployments as needed, while your primary work hours align with standard business hours. To excel in this role, you should have proven experience supporting production systems with at least 100+ users and possess strong collaboration skills across multiple teams including infrastructure, architecture, and information security. Experience in maintaining and upgrading legacy systems on Linux/Unix and Windows environments is essential. Proficiency in using Linux commands for troubleshooting, hands-on experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira, and a solid understanding of Java and Tomcat including managing JAR packages and troubleshooting deployments are crucial. Furthermore, a high-level knowledge of Java web applications, network security, routing, experience with CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments are required. Preferred or optional skills that would be beneficial for this role include exposure to DevOps practices, particularly in improving build and deployment pipelines, and a working knowledge of Azure Log Analytics for monitoring and diagnostics.,
