Job Description
As a Lead Backup & Recovery Administrator, you will be responsible for managing a team of Backup & Recovery Administrators to provide 24x7 production support. You will handle escalated incidents, critical tickets, and anticipate risks and impacts on the production environment. Your role involves managing and reporting performance dashboards with capacity planning, as well as designing, migrating, and upgrading the existing backup infrastructure with integrated hardware and software products. Your responsibilities will include creating target backup schedules, operational plans, media retention plans, and media management processes. You will ensure that all backup jobs are scheduled appropriately and expediently, prepare backup reports, and handle agent installation and configuration of backups. As a Level-3 Backup & Recovery Subject Matter Expert, you must be proficient in Veritas Netbackup and have L2 skills in Commvault Netbackup. Your expertise should cover data duplication, deduplication, replication concepts, backup and recovery planning, media management, vendor coordination, and troubleshooting complex problems in the backup infrastructure environment. You will be expected to have experience in production support, server/client installations, patching, upgradation, disaster recovery support, backup tool migration, high availability configurations, custom design, and performance management of backup infrastructure. Additionally, you will be responsible for tape library/storage configuration, disk to disk and disk to disk to tape configurations, recovery experience with specific backup modules, BMR backup configuration and recovery, replication, reporting, VMWare infrastructure, and backup SLAs and KPIs management. You will liaise with vendors and OEMs for technical issues, drive major incidents and resolutions, document operational performance, manage people and skills development, drive service improvement plans, mitigate risks, ensure compliance, perform backup performance tuning, and enable scripting tools for automation. Ideally, you should have ITIL certification, relevant scripting knowledge, exposure to mid-range & high-end servers, backup appliances, clustering, high availability, and license management. Your role will involve supporting the team in resolving day-to-day production issues, disaster recovery exercises, capacity planning, and other necessary activities. Your proactive approach and advanced problem-solving skills will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the backup infrastructure.,
