Job Description

Are you passionate about automotive design and engineering excellence We are looking for a BIW Bonnet Design Lead to join our dynamic team and drive innovation in vehicle architecture! As a BIW Bonnet Design Lead, you will be responsible for leading end-to-end bonnet (hood) design within BIW architecture. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including CAE, manufacturing, and styling to drive concept development, feasibility studies, and DFMEA. Your role will also involve ensuring that the design meets all safety, regulatory, and performance targets. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and guide design reviews. The ideal candidate should have around 4 to 8 years of experience in Hood/Bonnet Design & Development at an Automobile OEM. You will be required to develop and refine 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for hood outer panels, inner reinforcements, hinges, latches, and strikers. It is essential to ensure compliance with pedestrian protection regulations and front crash safety standards by collaborating with teams in BIW, sealing, latching, thermal management, and styling for proper integration. A strong knowledge of tooling feasibility, material selection (steel, aluminum, composites), and manufacturing processes is crucial for this role. Proficiency in software such as Catia and PLM like Teamcenter is required. Familiarity with engineering and system documents like DFMEA, DVP, and DFA is necessary. Good technical knowledge of automotive sheet metal parts, manufacturing, and assembly processes is expected. Candidates should hold a B.E. degree in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering with 4-8 years of relevant experience. Proven experience in BIW bonnet or closure system design, strong knowledge of sheet metal, GD&T, packaging, and tooling constraints, as well as proficiency in CAD tools (Catia V5/V6, NX, etc.) are desirable qualities for this role.
