Job Description
Position Summary: The Well-being Counselor will be responsible for promoting mental, emotional, and psychological wellness among students and staff at the university. This role involves providing individual counseling, group workshops, crisis support, and proactive wellness programming to foster a healthy and supportive campus environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide confidential one-on-one counseling to students and staff on issues such as stress, anxiety, academic pressure, relationships, grief, and other personal challenges. Identify and support students experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties, offering early interventions and referrals when necessary. Design and conduct well-being workshops, group sessions, and awareness campaigns on topics such as emotional resilience, mindfulness, stress management, and self-care. Collaborate with faculty, administration, and student services to develop a campus-wide culture of wellness. Respond to mental health crises or emergencies with appropriate interventions and follow-up. Maintain accurate, confidential records of all counseling interactions in line with university policies. Assist in the development and implementation of well-being policies and protocols. Stay updated with the latest research, tools, and best practices in mental health and counseling. Qualifications & Experience: Masters degree in Psychology, Counseling, Mental Health, or a related field. At least 5 years of counseling experience, preferably in an academic or youth-centric setting. Strong knowledge of mental health issues faced by university students and young adults. Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse student populations with sensitivity and empathy. Training in mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), or other wellness-based approaches is an added advantage. Preferred Skills: Experience in organizing and conducting mental health awareness programs. Familiarity with digital wellness tools and platforms. Ability to manage group dynamics and facilitate engaging wellness sessions. Crisis intervention and suicide prevention training (optional but desirable).
