Job Description
As a BESS Technical Expert for Utility-Scale Projects, you will be responsible for leading and supporting all technical activities related to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a specific focus on DC-coupled and containerized systems. Your key responsibilities include: BESS Technical Evaluation: - Evaluating LFP and equivalent battery technologies at cell, pack, and container levels - Assessing BMS, thermal management, and fire safety systems - Conducting lifecycle cost, degradation, warranty, and performance risk analysis - Ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as IEC/UL/IS standards PCS/Inverter & EMS Evaluation: - Evaluating Power Conversion Systems (PCS) and Energy Management Systems (EMS) - Reviewing EMS features, SCADA compatibility, and grid compliance - Recommending optimal system topologies Sizing & Design Optimization: - Sizing BESS based on tender requirements and grid services - Performing solar + BESS dispatch planning - Simulating BESS round-trip efficiency and state of charge profiles Technical Due Diligence & Vendor Evaluation: - Leading evaluation of technical bids from BESS OEMs, EPC contractors, and system integrators - Preparing technical comparison matrices and compliance checklists - Participating in FAT, SAT, and project commissioning support - Evaluating integrated solutions such as PV + BESS + EMS Preferred Qualifications: - B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Engineering - Minimum 10-15 years of experience, with 3+ years in hands-on BESS utility-scale projects - Familiarity with Indian and global grid codes, MNRE/CEA standards, and utility requirements - Experience with DC-coupled architecture is a strong plus Desirable Traits: - Proactive problem-solving and system-level thinking - Cross-functional collaboration with project, procurement, and commissioning teams - Ability to engage with international BESS OEMs and negotiate technical compliance - Capability to work as an individual contributor without a team If you are passionate about driving technical excellence in utility-scale BESS deployment and possess the required qualifications and traits, we encourage you to get in touch for this high-budget position in Gurgaon.
