Job Description

As a CNC Gear Grinder at The Delta Companies, you will be responsible for setting up machines, inspecting faces and diameters using micrometers, gages, and amps, and making machine adjustments to maintain print specifications. You will play a key role in maintaining proper documentation of SPC data and collaborating with management staff and supervisors. Additionally, you will be loading and unloading machines as per the designated cycle time, determining when wheels need replacement, and assisting in identifying tooling and fixturing needs. In this role, you will be expected to inspect or measure workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as gauges or micrometers. You will also be responsible for observing machine operations to detect any issues, making necessary adjustments to correct problems, and moving machine controls to index workpieces and adjust machines for pre-selected operational settings. Furthermore, you will study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences. Key competencies for this position include the ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are working properly, control equipment or systems operations, conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance, monitor and assess performance to drive improvements, and understand written instructions in work-related documents. You will be grinding faces and diameters while holding tolerances between .0005" to .00005".
