Engineering Geologist Responsibilities & Duties
Conduct geological and geotechnical site investigations to assess ground conditions.
Analyze soil, rock, groundwater, and other geologic data to determine their impact on engineering projects.
Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and reports for project planning and design.
Advise on the suitability of sites for various construction projects based on geological findings.
Develop risk assessments related to geological hazards like landslides, earthquakes, and subsidence.
Design and supervise the implementation of ground improvement measures and other geotechnical solutions.
Monitor and interpret data from field investigations and laboratory tests.
Conduct environmental impact assessments and provide geotechnical recommendations.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, and planners to incorporate geological data into project designs.
Review and interpret geological data for planning and environmental compliance.
Provide expert testimony or consultation for legal and regulatory matters involving geological issues.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in geotechnical engineering and geology.
