Job Description

Role: Disaster Recovery (DR) Engineer

Experience- 6+ years

Working Mode- WFO, 5 Days (Rotational Shift)

Location- Mumbai

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced DR Engineer to join our team and play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our disaster recovery (DR) strategy. You will be responsible for all aspects of DR, from assessing risks and designing solutions to testing and ensuring readiness. You will work closely with various stakeholders across the organization to ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster.


Responsibilities:
   Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive DR strategy:
o    Assess business continuity requirements and identify potential risks.
o    Design and document DR solutions for applications, data, and infrastructure, considering factors like: 
   Storage replication technologies (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum Protect, EMC Recover Point)
   Database clustering and high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On Availability Groups)
   Network redundancy and failover mechanisms (e.g., Cisco HSRP, VRRP)
   Cloud-based DR options (e.g., Azure Site Recovery, VMware Cloud DR)
o    Select and implement DR technologies and tools, including: 
   Storage replication software
   Backup and recovery tools
   DR orchestration platforms
   Cloud-based DR services
o    Develop and maintain DR policies and procedures.
   Design and implement DR solutions for various technologies:
o    Storage (SAN, NAS, object storage)
o    Database (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
o    Network (WAN, LAN, wireless)
o    Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, macOS)
o    Data Center technologies (virtualization, containerization)
   Develop and maintain DR documentation:
o    Create and maintain DR plans, runbooks, and procedures.
o    Document DR architecture and configurations.
   Test and validate DR solutions:
o    Develop and execute DR testing plans, incorporating: 
   Failover simulations
   Recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO) testing
o    Analyze test results and identify areas for improvement.
o    Continuously improve DR readiness.
   Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging technologies in DR.
   Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization, including business units, IT operations, and security teams.
   Maintain awareness of regulatory compliance requirements related to DR.


Qualifications:
   L3 (6+) years of experience in IT infrastructure, with a focus on disaster recovery.
   Proven experience in designing, implementing, and testing DR solutions for complex environments.
   Strong understanding of storage, database, network, operating system, and data center technologies, including experience with: 
o    Storage technologies (SAN, NAS, object storage) from vendors like Veritas, IBM, EMC, Dell
o    Database technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and their respective high availability solutions
o    Network technologies (LAN, WAN, wireless) and related protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) from vendors like Cisco, Juniper
o    Cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and their DR services
o    Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
   Excellent knowledge of DR best practices and industry standards (e.g., RTO, RPO, BCDR frameworks).
   Experience with DR automation tools and methodologies (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is a plus.
   Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
   Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
   Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
