Job Description

The Design Engineer will assist our Design & Development (D&D) team to support the design and development of Products like Throttle controls, Gear shifters, Dipsticks, Push pull cables etc. The successful candidate shall possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, the ability to interface with diverse individuals and groups, and strong planning and organizational abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Creation of 3D models and drawings.
  • Evaluate compliance of Orscheln manufacturing standards, drawings, specifications and products with customer specifications, drawings, and other expectations.
  • Effectively support the NPD business goals.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to migrate new designs into a successful production environment, and to ensure compliance with industry regulatory standards.
  • Participate in VAVE activities.
  • Support the design & development of prototype and production tools, fixtures, gauges, and equipment. 
  • Execute typical administrative procedures (Feasibility Reviews, Engineering change requests).
  • Support continuous improvement team activities.
  • Participate in PPAP & APQP activity.
  • Work with customers as required including traveling.
  • Perform all other tasks and "special assignments" as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR KNOWLEDGE UPON QUALIFICATION IN POSITION:

  • DFMEA, DFMA, Design calculations
  • Knowledge of mfg. processes
  • Office equipment
  • Very good communication skills

Computer skills

  • 2+ years of experience in NX Unigraphics preferred.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • AutoCAD
  • Typical Office Software like MS-OFFICE, PDF
  • Time management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 60% of the time desk job
  • Frequent travel to customer & supplier places
  • Climate controlled environment
