Job Description

Collecting data about patients current health status, including vital signs, intake and output of fluids, medication administration, lab results, etc. Preparing patients for surgery by washing and disinfecting the surgical site, applying antiseptic solutions, and covering wounds with sterile drapes. Performing diagnostic tests such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), urinalysis, cultures, and other procedures as ordered by a physician. Providing comfort to patients by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and dressing. Monitoring equipment such as electrocardiographs, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, respiratory rate monitors, temperature probes, and oxygen delivery devices. Observing patient behavior to identify signs of changes in physical or psychological status that may require additional medical attention. Preparing patients for transport to other facilities by performing tasks such as cleaning wounds and changing bandages. Assist with or perform various procedures, such as inserting catheters, applying dressings etc. Keep accurate records of patient care and progress. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the unit. Provide emotional support to patients and families. Support nursing in all aspects of patient care.
