Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing a Safe and Non-Judgmental Space: Creating a comfortable environment where clients feel secure to express themselves without fear of criticism.   
• Active Listening and Empathy: Paying close attention to clients' verbal and non-verbal cues, demonstrating understanding, and reflecting on their feelings and experiences.   
• Facilitating Self-Exploration and Problem-Solving: Encouraging clients to reflect on their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and assisting them in setting realistic goals and developing coping strategies.   
• Developing Treatment Plans: Evaluating client needs and creating customized plans to address their specific challenges.   
• Monitoring Progress and Adjusting Treatment: Regularly checking in with clients to assess their progress and making necessary adjustments to their treatment plans.   
• Maintaining Confidentiality: Keeping all client information and session content private, while also understanding the limits of confidentiality (e.g., risk of harm to self or others).   
• Building Trust and Respect: Establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with clients based on trust and respect.   
• Promoting Self-Awareness and Growth: Helping clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions, and their behaviors.   
• Teaching Coping Mechanisms: Equipping clients with the tools and strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and other challenges.   
• Liaising with Other Professionals: Collaborating with other healthcare providers, agencies, and community resources as needed to provide comprehensive care.   
• Keeping Accurate Records: Documenting client interactions and progress accurately and thoroughly.   
• Adhering to Ethical Guidelines: Maintaining professional standards and ethical conduct throughout the counseling process.   
• Continuing Education: Staying updated on the latest research and best practices in the field of counseling.   
• Crisis Intervention: Providing support and guidance to clients during times of crisis or emergency.
