Job Description

 

  • Client Assessment: Conduct initial assessments to understand clients' backgrounds, concerns, mental health status, and goals for counselling.

  • Individual/Group Counselling: Conduct one-on-one and/or group counselling sessions using appropriate therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, mindfulness, person-centered therapy) to address clients' needs.

  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement personalized counselling plans collaboratively with clients, setting realistic and measurable goals.

  • Active Listening & Empathy: Listen attentively, demonstrate empathy, and build strong rapport with clients to facilitate open communication.

  • Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and guidance to clients dealing with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems, trauma, or life transitions.

  • Coping Strategies: Educate clients on effective coping mechanisms, stress management techniques, and self-care strategies.

  • Confidentiality & Ethics: Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and adhere to professional ethical guidelines and standards of practice.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case notes and client records.

  • Referrals: Refer clients to other specialized professionals (e.g., psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, support groups) when necessary and appropriate.

  • Crisis Intervention: Provide initial support and intervention in crisis situations, following established protocols.

  • Professional Development: Continuously engage in professional development, supervision, and stay updated with the latest counselling theories and practices.
