Job Description

As a Computer Operator Cum Technician, you'll be responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of our computer systems and networks. This dual role requires a blend of operational expertise to ensure smooth data processing and technical skills to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues. You should be detail-oriented, possess excellent problem-solving abilities, and be committed to maintaining a functional and efficient IT environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • System Operation & Monitoring:

    • Perform daily system checks, ensuring all computers, peripherals, and network devices function optimally.

    • Execute scheduled tasks, such as data backups, system updates, and report generation.

    • Monitor system performance, identifying and reporting any anomalies or potential issues promptly.

    • Ensure data integrity and security protocols are followed during all operations.

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting:

    • Provide first-level technical support to users for hardware and software issues (e.g., printer problems, basic network connectivity, software errors).

    • Diagnose and resolve common computer hardware problems (e.g., replacing components, cleaning, basic repairs).

    • Install, configure, and update operating systems (Windows, basic Linux knowledge preferred) and software applications.

    • Perform routine maintenance on computers, including cleaning, defragmentation, and virus scans.

    • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT personnel or external vendors when necessary.

  • Network & Connectivity:

    • Assist in basic network troubleshooting (e.g., checking cable connections, router status).

    • Ensure internet connectivity and resolve minor connectivity issues.

  • Documentation & Inventory:

    • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including hardware and software inventory.

    • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and system configurations.

    • Track and manage IT consumables (e.g., printer ink, paper).

  • User Assistance:

    • Provide guidance and basic training to users on software applications and system usage.

    • Assist with setup and configuration of new user workstations.

  • Compliance & Security:

    • Adhere to company IT policies and security procedures.

    • Assist in implementing and monitoring basic cybersecurity measures.
