Civil Engineer- NATM Tunnel

Position: Civil Engineer (Cross Passage)

Experience: Minimum 5 years in NATM tunnel construction

Location: Project-based

Industry: Tunneling, Infrastructure, Metro, Railways, Highways

Job Responsibilities:

1. Cross Passage Construction & Execution:

   • Supervise and execute the construction of cross passages in NATM tunnels, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
   • Oversee excavation, support installation, grouting, and final lining activities.

2. NATM Implementation:

   • Apply NATM techniques such as sequential excavation, shotcreting, rock bolting, and face stability control.
   • Interpret and implement geotechnical monitoring data to adjust support systems as required.

3. Safety & Quality Control:

   • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and risk mitigation measures for cross-passage excavation.
   • Conduct quality inspections for shotcrete, rock bolts, lattice girders, and concrete lining.

4. Coordination & Communication:

   • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, surveyors, and site teams for smooth execution.
   • Liaise with the client, contractors, and consultants for approvals and progress updates.

5. Geotechnical & Monitoring Support:

   • Interpret tunnel face mapping and geotechnical instrument readings.
   • Implement remedial measures in case of ground instability or water ingress.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

   • Maintain daily progress reports, material usage records, and site logs.
   • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and compliance reports.

7. Material & Resource Management:

   • Ensure timely availability of construction materials such as shotcrete, steel ribs, and rock bolts.
   • Optimize workforce and equipment usage for efficient execution.
