Job Description

You will be joining Motorola Solutions as a Backup Lead Engineer, responsible for managing and architecting a group of backup administrators and overseeing global backup and recovery operations. Your role will involve ensuring a highly available, reliable, serviceable, secure, and efficient environment for internal customers. You will serve as the subject matter expert for global backups and recovery environments, maintaining a project-oriented approach while focusing on standards, next-generation architecture, solution improvements, and cost analysis. Key responsibilities include overseeing and managing all backup and recovery operations, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, serving as a company subject matter expert, guiding technical staff, driving projects and initiatives, providing expert support and analysis, ensuring operating standards and procedures are adhered to, identifying opportunities for infrastructure and process improvements, delivering technology evaluations and solution proposals, and defining and delivering capacity planning analysis and monthly reporting. To be successful in this role, you should have at least 5+ years of experience in a high technical level position, with 2+ years of experience leading a global team of backup administrators. You should have a deep understanding of commercial backup offerings of major vendors, experience in providing data protection for databases such as SQL Server and Oracle, strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, experience in creating processes and procedural documentation, and the flexibility to work in a multi-cloud environment. Desirable skills include understanding long-term archive storage solutions, experience with ITIL Service Design, developing and maintaining solution roadmaps, and defining backup/recovery processes. Travel requirements for this position are none, and relocation is not provided.
