Job Description
This role is for one of Weekday's clients. The salary range for this position is between Rs 1500000 and Rs 4000000 per annum (i.e., INR 15-40 LPA). The minimum experience required for this role is 2 years. The location for this position is Mumbai and it is a full-time job. About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Associate/Manager - M&A Tax professional to join our expanding tax and transaction advisory team. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions, deal structuring, and tax due diligence. You will play a crucial role in advising clients on tax-efficient deal strategies and structures. This is a fantastic opportunity for a tax professional aiming to specialize in high-impact M&A transactions working with prominent corporates, investors, and private equity clients across diverse sectors. Key Responsibilities: - M&A Tax Advisory: Provide comprehensive tax advisory support on M&A transactions, encompassing buy-side and sell-side structuring, joint ventures, divestitures, and business reorganizations. - Deal Structuring: Design innovative and tax-efficient structures for complex transactions while evaluating potential tax exposures and risks. Assist in transaction planning for cross-border acquisitions and restructurings. - Tax Due Diligence: Perform thorough tax due diligence and review target entities for potential tax liabilities. Prepare detailed tax due diligence reports and risk matrices for client review. - Regulatory Compliance & Risk Assessment: Ensure adherence to relevant tax regulations, including Income Tax, International Tax, Transfer Pricing, GAAR, and BEPS frameworks. Identify areas of tax exposure and propose mitigation solutions. - Client Engagement & Relationship Management: Regularly engage with clients, comprehend their business objectives, and align tax strategies with their broader goals. Deliver presentations and reports to senior client stakeholders. - Coordination & Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams (Legal, Corporate Finance, and Audit) to provide a holistic transaction advisory experience. Coordinate with legal counsel and external advisors on deal documentation. - Research & Insights: Stay abreast of developments in tax laws, judicial pronouncements, and market trends impacting M&A. Contribute to knowledge sharing, whitepapers, and internal training. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Educational Background: CA or LLB (with a strong tax background). Additional qualifications like CS or a Master's in Taxation would be advantageous. - Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in M&A Tax, corporate tax advisory, or transaction advisory with a reputed consulting firm, Big 4, or corporate M&A team. - Technical Expertise: Profound understanding of the Indian Income Tax Act, M&A tax provisions, international tax, and cross-border structuring. - Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex tax legislation and evaluate implications for transactions. - Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of simplifying and explaining complex tax implications to non-technical stakeholders. - Project Management: Competent in managing multiple engagements simultaneously and meeting deadlines efficiently.,
