Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Accounts to lead the accounting function of our NBFC. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in preparing and finalizing balance sheets in accordance with RBI guidelines, and a deep understanding of NBFC financial operations. This role involves end-to-end responsibility for accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the preparation and finalization of financial statements including monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with all Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations applicable to NBFCs. Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and tax consultants to ensure smooth audits and compliance. Implement and monitor internal controls and ensure adherence to standard accounting practices and regulatory norms. Manage the timely filing of regulatory returns to the RBI and other statutory bodies (e.g., NBS-1, NBS-2, NBS-9, etc.). Guide the team in proper classification of assets and liabilities, provisioning norms, and income recognition in accordance with RBI prudential norms. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure systems are updated in real-time. Prepare management reports, variance analysis, and forecasts to support decision-making. Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and ensure timely adaptation in accounting practices. Work closely with the compliance and finance teams to ensure seamless functioning and alignment with corporate goals. Qualifications & Experience: Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory. 710 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting, with at least 35 years in an NBFC or financial institution. In-depth knowledge of NBFC-specific financial statements, RBI circulars, and statutory requirements. Familiarity with IND-AS and tax regulations. Strong understanding of asset classification, provisioning norms, CRAR, and other RBI mandates. Proficient in accounting software (Tally, ERP systems) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
